Woodstock
The city of Woodstock is located in Cherokee County which was formed in 1831. Woodstock was settled in the early 1830's but was not established until 1897. Original land that forms Cherokee County was claimed from Creek and Cherokee Indians.
Once gold was found near Dahlonega in 1829 after the Indians relocated to Oklahoma by the Trail of Tears the Gold Rush began in Georgia. The gold belt had a 10 mile radius around Cherokee County. There was an estimated 3,000 men digging for gold in the Indian territory. When the gold rush began in California in 1849 most men set out West.

Woodstock is one of the fastest growing areas in Georgia. Downtown is also known
as "Olde Towne" with beautiful brick sidewalks and shops that date back to 1879. Mixing contemporary and historic across the street from the towns original buildings stands a new development with residential and commercial units.
