Lake Allatoona, Ga. - Information Guide

Students from Cartersville High School have created and submitted their Lake Clean Up posters for the 2012 Great Lake Allatoona Clean Up. The posters will be judged tonight by the GLAC committees and the winning poster will be the official poster for this years lake clean up.

All of the students did an amazing job with their creations so it will be a really difficult choice to pick just one! Let us know which one you like.

Thursday morning a water tank containing 100,00- gallons of water broke and flooded the Boat Show exhibition floor. The tank belonging to the Wake Board attraction delayed the opening of the of the Wake Board show until 3:00pm Thursday afternoon. There were no injuries to any people or boats.

If you store your boat in the water all of the time then you probably have boaters insurance. On the other hand many people are part time boaters and keep there boat in their yard, storage house or garage at home. If the latter applies to you then you need to read the small print on your homeowners policy or call your insurance agent and ask if you will receive full replacement value for your boat in the event of damage. Most people assume that their boats stored at home would be included in their homeowners policy in the event of fire, storm or other disaster but in most cases a standard policy will not.

It might prove embarrassing for owner to claim false teeth

Northwest Georgia’s second set of unclaimed false teeth are awaiting the owner.

Considerable interest developed recently when Publisher M.L. Fleetwood of The Cartersville News-Tribune reported that a set of upper teeth, found when waters of Lake Allatoona receded for the winter, has been turned over to the newspaper in an effort to locate the owner.

The second set of teeth has turned up in Floyd County. Ira C. England, who lives on Callier Springs Road, Rome Rte. 4, said today that he, too, has a set of teeth which he would be glad to return to the owner – if he’ll only come forward.

But it might be embarrassing for the owner to claim them.

It seems that a prowler entered Mr. England’s backyard a few nights ago and occupants of a garage apartment sounded an alarm when his presence was discovered. Harold Morris, one of the occupants of the apartment, came running out, armed with a gun, and the prowler tripped over a tub and fell, apparently while attempting to flee. He made good his escape but the occupant of another apartment, Mrs. Pat Moore, later discovered a set of false teeth near the tub, apparently dropped by the prowler.

Mr. England said he felt certain the prowler needs the teeth – and is anxious for him to have them. The problem is, how can the man claim the teeth – without admitting he was prowling around an area in which he had no business?
